Questions
What is the Bank of England base rate?
Bank Rate is the interest rate set by the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee. Lenders use it as a guide, so mortgage rates usually sit above it. The rate on this page is updated automatically from the Bank of England.
Interest-only or repayment for buy-to-let?
Interest-only gives lower monthly payments because you only pay interest and repay the loan at the end, often by selling or refinancing. Repayment costs more each month but clears the loan by the end of the term.
How much deposit do I need for a buy-to-let?
Most UK buy-to-let lenders ask for at least 25% deposit, though some accept 20% or 15%. A bigger deposit usually means a lower rate.
